This page is password-protected like all pages referring to RDS.  To hopefully avoid confusion, at the same time make it
simpler for me, the following will serve as a time-clock log of sorts.  Please bookmark this page and refer to it as often or as
infrequent as you wish.

I will log in my progress and include links to hopefully make things as simple as turning on a computer!

Note:  I'm really having fun with the building.  That's my thing!

The biggest accomplishment today was building the on-line Summer Registration Page
for the new site.  This is not as crude as what was done on Yahoo! Sitebuilder and I
think you'll like it.  I've been checking each page carefully and the images are no being
edited to a screen resolution of 120.  I like this better than the typical 99 or 72.

What I will tell you is that we are NO WHERE NEAR what is trying to happen on the Weir
site.  We are Sanibel or Isle of the Palms and they're boardwalk Atlantic City.  I truly
believe your site is classy... !  I hope you agree.

Tomorrow (5/21), I will have to spend my day outdoors attending to the landscape.  Very
difficult with Paul gone... I'm a landscaper too!

Enjoy!

Oh... decided to keep the recital page, but it's not in your face.  You can only get it from
one spot, but I forget right now.  I'll give that info tomorrow.  Thanks for understanding
that I am semi-cross-eyed today!
On-Line Summer Registration

Go to http://www.webmail.roadrunner.com and the user name is dancerhythm.com.
The password is the current username and password put together without a space and
all lower case; or
usernamepassword.

The home page version I was telling Lynn about this evening with the changing picture
was published under index2... link to the right.

I'll peek at the Weir Dancing Website to make sure we're not heading in that direction.

Lynn:  hopefully you received the Google post card and hopefully the older ones will
disappear along with the icky comment.

I was toying with an idea...  testimonial page?
Home Page Version 2
5-18-09
Thanks for a terrific recital.  It inspired me to complete the recital page for the website.  I
also am doing the final fine-tuning of pages.

If you still want to target June 1st, I will need to start publishing to your current site.  I
have to admit, I am a bit cautious as to how long this might take.  I would strongly
suggest a full week to correct any quirks... of which I am certain there will be many.

The pages that are complete:  Index; About Us; Maps/Directions; Class Descriptions,
Rhythm News; Competition Program (still awaiting your approval); Registration.

I'm backing up my files for this site and it will take approx. 42 minutes!

Barbara - I hope things are improving with your Mother.  I am sorry to hear she's not
feeling well.  Naturally, I am sending prayers.

NOTE:  The
clipart image is doing something
strange and I decided to work on
that in that morning. It does look a bit
disturbing right now, but I'll get it
lookin' good. (5-19-09

Adding the composite to the end of slide on home page 2 and disabled the
loop.  This is GOOD!  Also, adding 'Rhythm Dance Studio' underneath logo
on subsequent pages.  Fine-tuning again, adding photo credits.

5-13-09
Here's a new home page for consideration - WOWOWOWWOWOW!!!
Home Page Version 2
5-12-09
Had a thought I decided to put to a test for the home page.  Remember - this is just an
idea.  I would recommend picking-out between 5 and 10 of your favorite photos where I
can apply the technique to each as you see in the first photo.  This will be VERY
interesting.

REMEMBER THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND JUST AN IDEA I
THOUGHT I WOULD TEST.

Happy Recital Week.

Starting to make the final checks on the pages and building-out what I can
independently.  I created the recital slide show, editing the photos to correct color,
levels, etc.  One slide show is left and that is
Summer Camp and the photos from the
digital frame is what I need for that
.

I adjusted the Studio slide show to work with the music, eliminating the long hallway
pictures.  I will lengthen the music and put those images back in if you choose.  Also, I
completed the competition team slide show.

The two new pages (mentioned below) were printed and hopefully I'll find a way to get
them to you.  I may ask someone to bring them in, but of course, I'll seal them in an
envelope.

Again - this time for real... progress will stall until next week.  (ha!)

Okay... I can't leave this alone no matter what!  I have really begun fine-tuning;
completing in the process some new pages (look to your right).  Now I have to bid this
project adieu or else I'll never make it to MB!

Please let me know what you think of the forms I re-typed for you.  They were created in
MSWord, so the compatibility should pose no problems.  In the long-run, this will be a
very cost-effective move.

Tuition page - added info deemed reliable, but not guaranteed.... blah blah and that prices are
subject to increase w/o notice.  Standard CYA stuff.

Lots of fine-tuning.  Wanted to show you how your forms would look if redone and
published in pdf.  Labeled this page "Electronic Library" and was only done for your
consideration.  (Copies - not thoroughly proofed - are coming to you today.)

I took your answers on the FAQ and worked them into corresponding pages. Adds
substance throughout.

As requested: I did work the summer camp jpg and links into current site!  Hope this
suits your current needs!  Copies of the jpeg sun is coming into the studio today.

Note:
New site protection is firmly in place and has not be jeopardized.  Also with
Myrtle Beach this coming weekend... any additional work on the site may stall.  On my
end, I would say we could probably Go Live (if we had the Instructor Head Shots) by
Recital, providing there are no serious issues publishing onto the current site. What this
means is simply a June 1st target date is within the realm of possibility!  Obviously -
everything is hinged on Barbara's final a.o.k.

What I am looking forward to is completing slide shows.

Okay... I went out on a limb and 'did up' a page on the competition program.  I want to be
able to present my idea as a visual for your consideration.  I know when I was looking
for a new studio for Emalee that was something we wanted to see and learn about.  At
that time, I really thought couldn't find anything that compared.... HA!  There have got to
be more like me out there... Yes?  Scary thought is what I think!

I have inserted the best pics I have in places I thought good.  Pretty much done!

Directions have been typed and put on the appropriate page.

Lynn/Barbara... I finished the Summer Camp and Summer Camp Registration On-Line
Form Monday/Tuesday.  These are pages hosted on my site for you and I would be
happy to get them published into your current site.  I know and respect how busy you
both are.  Let me help here!  I also emailed a jpeg photo link for you to use and set-up
an email address on carolina.rr.com to receive the on-line registration, which will be
exclusive to you (you can change password/user name) and will remain active until
summer camp registration has ceased.
dancerhythm@carolina.rr.com.  Go to
https://webmail.carolina.rr.com/ to administer.

Has post card come back from Google????  Remember to remove old listings... they
are dated and don't contain links.  One has an unpleasant review which should go away.

Tomorrow I'll dabble in some slide show creation.

REMEMBER - SUMMER CAMP PICA FROM DIGITAL PHOTO FRAME!
look at the entire site... it's
changed and looks really good
with color photos!

There is NO LINK in the site for a
competition program because I
removed it.

Click the following to see my
proposal!

Note:  Pics load longer because I
didn't reduce their sizes.  I will do so
upon your approval of showcase
photos used.  I am also think I would
like to place them looking like actual
photographs.
Week of 4/27
New Season photos of Studio; published on site and also new slide show built.

Photos have been added throughout the site.
Home Page redesigned... a bit.

Also - summer camp information published for RDS as promised.  Emails confirm that.

Loads of work done behind the scenes with pic editing.

4-23-09
Lots of work has been done on the site and apologize for not keeping the log on a daily
basis.  Let me catch you up...  I selected a ton of photos from NEU-Pix and printed
thumbnails pages for Barbara's review.  (I have those photos on a cd so to save
Barbara some work.  Kerrie gave me these w/o questioning my motive.  I did some logo
and watermark work for her.)  I need Barbara's indication on which photos she would
like to showcase on the site and those she definitely doesn't want to use.  Those left will
be incorporated in the appropriate slide show.

Designed - CUSTOM - slideshow template and built the slide show for the studio.
There was a bit of an issue with the autoplay that even Yahoo could help with... BUT I
figured it out today!  HA!  Tuition Page is completed (minus photos) and I also replaced
the Summer Camp brochure with a new, cleaner image.  Sent Lynn an email with
suggestion.  I will create a drop-down registration form for summer camp.  I hope you
like the design!

I plan on going out and take new exterior pics of the studio now that those maples
sprouted leaves!

I have company for dinner on Saturday, so I will be busy for the next couple days.
Danielle's dad is bringing Em and one of her brothers is picking her up.  If you have the
thumbnails pages ready, please send them home with Em.  Slides shows take time to
build.  Thank you.

Note:  If you don't like the music... then please make a suggestion.  I went through a
bunch on iTunes and purchased what I thought would be appropriate.  Each slideshow
will have a different tune!

Google Map has been customized and should reflect all of Barbara's
wishes.  You have two (one I know of for sure) other Google business
listings which I strongly suggest you delete.  Best to have one.  Start with a
new website and business listing to correspond.
There is an issue with one
that I will track-down again and print for your visual.

Note:  Map on Directions/Map page is larger.  The map on the About Us page is smaller
to help reduce load time.

Still fighting the flu, but got the summer camp on and Lynne removed (sorry - sounds
bad).  There will a pdf link (to print the brochure) placed on this page in the next day or
two.

BIG SURPRISE for Barbara!  I reworked a lot of the things we talked about and
was able to copy the photo.  ENJOY!  (Perhaps I should work with the flu more often...
NOT!)

I have summer camp info to insert and the Baker photo to insert.  Maybe tomorrow.
Use the link button above.

Thank you for your time/suggestions/comments!

I did not take Barbara's notes on the text changes on the home page.  I am not sure if
you can send me those via email, or I will get them next week.  Text is fairly easy to
change as long as it doesn't alter the actual layout.  I will do what I can from memory.

04-06-09
In preparation for our 6 p.m. meeting today, I have printed out each instructor bio so they
can be updated.  I also inserted some studio photos, which I suggest get
retaken/replaced once the leaves are on the trees.

Both a copy of your brochure's registration form AND a printable pdf of the
same was created and published today.

Note:  Yahoo! doesn't recognize an Expression Web file, so after several creative
attempts, I've placed that file on my site and the link to the right is for your reference.
This is an example why it is necessary to me to be able to publish on to your server.

Re-worked Instructors page(s) - there are 4 pages in 1 page - and noticed it
is a bit persnickity when published on my Yahoo! server.  It works in my IE7
(Internet Exlporer preview), so I'm sure it will be fine once published onto
your server.  It looks good and can be view by clicking the following link

Re-worked everything I built and now you may view the pages I finished
today.  I went ahead and scanned pics off the copy of the brochure I have
and the result... pretty much miserable.  Once we get good picture files
inserted, we'll be good.  The links in the box to the very right will take you
directly to the pages I've built.  REMEMBER these are working pages!

Hi Barbara!  Special for you are Click Me Buttons (above).  This will
ALWAYS be your start page to review your web site's work in progress.

All you have to do is click on the links!!!
If you want to send me an comments/suggestions... you click on that link.

I am excited you'll have the time to get this thing off-the-ground!

3-26-09
Reworked the home page to near-final.  Differences are: page will center on a wide
screen monitor while keeping the smaller page size; drop-down horizontal menu (which
required writing code to make it work) and tweaked some other areas.
Note:  I
reworked a lot of the other corresponding pages, so not all of the links may work from
the newly-designed home page. That will be corrected over the next week.  With Emalee
being sick... this afforded me some screen time!
(She received a penicillin shot Tuesday at
2:30, meaning she was no-longer contagious at Wednesday tap class.)

Suggestion:  Let me work directly on your site.  Once you can tell me if you like the
direction its taking and give me your wish list - I can turn into a tornado and work until it's
perfected.  Not only will your clients start to use it... suggestions will be made and those
suggestions can be analyzed, it will bring you more business AND eliminate paper and
postage!

NEED PHOTOS!!!!  NEED PHOTOS!!!!
NEED SUMMER CAMP INFORMATIONS!!!!
NEED UPDATED BIOS!!!!  NEED INSTRUCTOR HEAD SHOTS!!! (Please)

I will print the pages for you to see and bring in the folder where web site-related
information can be collected.  Again - I will take head shots for any instructor that may
need one.

I am using Expression Web (replacement for Front Page) to create your site because
that is what your server recognizes.
Home Page (Index)

Take special note:  the drop-down
menu works in Internet Explorer 7
browser, but for some reason it is not
being recognized on my Yahoo!
server, which isn't all that surprising.
Think about it this way... I published
YOUR future site on an old site of
mine which contains pages created
with 2 separate software programs!
That gives me a headache!!!
(Anyway... too bad the drop-down
doesn't work here because this took
about 2 days to perfect!)

This is another reason why I need to
publish direct to your site!  I think
especially during competition
season... the interest in your Studio is
going to be great and the site should
be the best it can be... YES???
I'll put
Emalee up as collateral!
 I am
trustworthy and you WILL be
PLEASED!

That's it... no more answering the phone when I'm working with code!  html multiplied

been up-swing of activity on this remote site, so someone is looking at it.  Hopefully...
someone is liking it!

I just finished creating ONE page, which took me about 2 days to complete.  This is the
page I'm most excited about and will hopefully impress any and all who visit it!  YOUR
INSTRUCTORS!!!!  Now you will see how important it is for me to get those HEAD
SHOTS!

Note:  This page actually has 4 pages in one and close to 50 links!
Instructor Page
2-26
FYI - with this design, I am creating many of the pages with layers and with absolute
positioning.  This is the simplest way of creating pages in CSS and to ultimately
understand and learning when this site is taken over.

What this means simply from a user perspective:  you will see your web site/page open
in a fixed width as opposed to centering/floating while you resize your window.
If this doesn't make sense - no
worries.
2-24
Barbara - I added a sentence on the About Us page and this is in blue
color font and is highlighted.  You may want to re-word.

2-25
Rebuilt home and about us pages with refined button nav bars.  Also the heading has
been redesigned.  Looks better.

The next page I will be setting-up is the Instructor page.
Home Page (Index)
About Us
2-24
Hint:  When viewing pages; please remember to refresh the page.  I make changes,
(some major/some minor) often, and these changes may not be reflected because you
may be viewing a cached page.  Refresh often to get up-to-date changes.

To refresh - select the arrows green arrows in circular pattern on menu bar.

2-23
Redesigned subsequent pages using new width and a dynamic web
template.  Re-published temporary site reflecting changes.

2-23
Redesigned page width and length from 800x600 to an unorthodox (design
aspect) 960x650.  I've tested this on both Internet Explorer (Windows) and
Safari (Mac) and I feel this gives a breathable margin.

Purchased special 'red' expandable folder to be used at the Studio to collect information
respective to the web site.  Will also be used to share information and can be perused
at one's convenience.
Home page and About links
above still active.  Page holders
for other areas active within
these pages.
2-21
Need all RDS images you wish to be used in the Site on cd as soon
as possible.  Right now, image place holders are being used.
The
better the images the better the site!  Good pictures keep people on your site, on
average, longer.

Also - please inform your instructors that I will need a 'head shot' and updated bio.
(Remember - the website can only be as good as the pics and info it contains!)  Anyone who needs a
head shot, I will provide that service to RDS with my compliments.
I will be giving the Front
Desk a special folder where
items for the website can be
placed.
2-21
About Us page is complete with Google Map!

I think I will be widening the page a bit, but not quite to the standard wide screen monitor
resolution of 1024, but perhaps 950.  This way we will see the star background.
